Mahjong probability/odds

Mahjong being a game of sequences means there is a significant amount of probability involved in deciding which hands to go for etc during a game. We're going to be adding to the section soon including some tools to help calculate the odds of achieving certain hands but for now check out the following link from Alan Kwan.
  • Mah-Jong is Primarily a Game of sequences
  • "Two Identical Sequences" compared with "Two Similar Sequences"
  • "Three Similar Triplets" compared with "Mixed One-Suit" (All Triplets)
  • "Knitted Sets"
  • "Mixed Terminals 7 Pairs" compared with "13 Orphans" (English/Japanese dual language)
  • "Thirteen Orphans" compared with "Nine Gates of Heaven"
